Adelaide Councils have vowed to quickly approve building applications and consider works of their own in a bid to stimulate the states construction sector and create jobs. Paul Davidson, Business Owner says the last few years have been a struggle. A meeting of 35 Mayors has lead to a five point plan to combat the states unemployment problem. Martin Haese, Lord Mayor says they are looking for solutions together. Dave Burgess, Local Government Assoc says they have an injection of money coming in with the fuel tax and that will allow more road works to be done. Phil Sutherland Civil Contractors Federation says it is good to see the councils playing a part. Jay Weatherill, SA Premier says local government can also borrow at concession rates that helps to provide opportunity for jobs.
