In a move designed to make government projects more accessible to South Australian business the South Australian Government has made critical changes to state government procurement policy. Treasurer Koutsantonis and Transport and Infrastructure Minister Mullighan today announced that:
- All government projects over $220,000 will be increased to a 15% weighting for a tenderer’s Industry Participation Plans (IPP). This will include the Northern Connector project.
- Of the $93 million of infrastructure spending for Northern Adelaide identified in the 2015-16 State Budget, there will be an IPP weighting of 20% as a well as a tailored set of Key Performance Indicators. This will include the Gawler East Link project.
- As part of these improvements, the Government can also consider additional measures to increase local industry participation for particular major projects.
