Frequently Asked Questions

Civil Contractors Federation SA

Q: If I own my equipment out right – do I still need to register it with the PPSR?

A: If you own equipment and lease it, or lend it, or give possession of it to someone else (e.g. by leaving your equipment on someone else’s premises) then your ownership and dealing with the equipment might be a registrable interest under the PPSA (e.g.  a PPSR lease or a bailment that should be registered).  If you don’t register a registrable PPSA interest on the PPSR, then you might lose your interest in the equipment altogether.  If you have an interest in any equipment or material that leaves your possession, and your interest is registerable on the PPSR, you should register your interest on the PPSR.”
