LOCAL COUNCILS IMPLORED TO ADOPT US-STYLE BONDS
SCHEME TO CREATE JOBS AND BOLSTER S.A’S AILING ECONOMY
South Australia’s 68 local councils should adopt an innovative US-style bonds scheme where residents and other investors can purchase bonds from their municipality to fund new infrastructure and maintenance in that region.
Any revenue generated from investing in the tax free “Municipal Bonds” – sometimes called Local Authority Bonds – should then be reinvested in local infrastructure projects that have a public benefit. Read more
