TRAFFIC FINE REVENUE INTO THE ETHER OR REINVESTED TO SAVE MORE LIVES

This year will see the state government exponentially ramp up its investment in speed cameras and other high-tech traffic infringement detection devices. Commenting on the reported state government windfall of a record $105 million last year in traffic fines, the Civil Contractors Federation says that traffic fine revenue would save more lives by being reinvested in road maintenance and other traffic management engineering solutions, than go to general revenue.

We strongly encourage the government to continue its efforts to reduce the road carnage by reinvesting the proceeds of traffic fines into badly needed road maintenance and other traffic engineering solutions.
Phillip Sutherland, Chief Executive Officer
