Stewart Edwards
AR Contracting – Estimator / SITE Engineer

In October 2018, I joined the civil construction industry by working with civil contractor, AR Contracting Services Pty Ltd. I work in the estimating department through tendering on civil construction projects that have gone to tender. I also assist the project team by completing on-site quality, environmental and work health safety management plans, compiling ITP and test results and preparing job costings.

I joined the Future in Civil committee in June 2019 and I am eager to find out more about the civil construction industry. I want to connect with other young people and to assist in organising information and networking events.

Mcmahon servicesAR Contracting – Estimator / Graduate Engineer

Working in the construction industry for the past 5 years, involved in all stages of large infrastructure projects from procurement through to delivery. I enjoy working in a collaborative innovative project team, maintaining continual positive relationships with clients and subcontractors.

I believe maintaining strong working relationships is vital to a successful career, being a member of the Future in Civil Committee will provide opportunities to network with others in the industry and exchange experiences. I have a large interest in training and upskilling throughout the civil industry, being part of the Future in Civil Committee will give myself and the committee the opportunity to establish programs and training sessions for personnel to further develop their skillsets.

Catherine Gipson
BMD - proposal coordinator

My name is Cath and I joined BMD in late 2018 as the Proposal Coordinator for the Urban division. I started my career as technical writer before moving into marketing and communications at URS, and it was there I discovered the wonderful world of tendering. Civil construction can be a tough business and I’d like to support any woman beginning her career whether it be office or site based. It’s through my involvement in the Women in Civil Committee that I’ve realised you don’t have to be an engineer and that the members come from all walks of life. I’m looking forward to expanding my own network and promoting the committee at every opportunity.
