Following an extensive recruitment process, the Civil Contractors Federation South Australia (CCF SA) is pleased to confirm the appointment of Andrew Ockenden as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Andrew brings more than 20 years of experience in senior advisory and executive roles across the public and private sectors, specialising in corporate affairs, stakeholder engagement and government relations within the mining, transport and infrastructure industries.
He joins CCF SA from the South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport, where he served as Executive Director, Public Affairs. In this role, he was responsible for stakeholder engagement, media, government relations, corporate communication and marketing across some of the state’s most complex and high-profile infrastructure projects and policy reforms.
Throughout his career, Andrew has delivered award-winning public engagement campaigns, led strategies to support major commercial transactions, and contributed to national policy reforms in infrastructure and urban renewal.
“We received excellent candidate submissions during the recruitment process, and we are pleased to have selected Andrew to lead the Federation through this strong period of infrastructure driven growth for the State,” said CCF SA President Charles Hatcher.
“Andrew’s leadership background and his deep understanding of government and industry make him the ideal person to guide CCF SA through its next phase of development.”
“The Board looks forward to working with him to strengthen our organisation and deliver value for our members.”
As CEO, Andrew will work closely with the Board to strengthen CCF SA’s operations, elevate its services and support the delivery of its strategic priorities. He will also serve as Executive Director of Civil Apprenticeships and Careers Limited, overseeing workforce development programs to help secure the future pipeline of skilled civil contractors in South Australia.
Commenting on his appointment, Andrew said, “I’m incredibly proud to be joining CCF SA at such an important time for the civil construction industry and South Australia more broadly.”
“I thank the Board for entrusting me with this responsibility, and to our former CEO, Rebecca Pickering, whose legacy will benefit our members and industry for years to come.”
“With a multibillion-dollar infrastructure pipeline across housing, defence, energy, mining, utilities and transport progressing at pace, we have an extraordinary opportunity to build the skills, training and industry capability of the future.”
“I look forward to working with our members, the Board, government and industry stakeholders to advocate for the sector, build on our strengths, and ensure we’re well positioned to seize the opportunities ahead.”
Commencing next month, Andrew’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for the civil construction industry, as CCF SA prepares to enhance its services through a new state-of-the-art training facility and continues its work advocating for a skilled, sustainable and profitable sector.
